Requirements

Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Degree/Diploma) in nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a “Professional Nurse” with Midwifery A post-basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Obstetrical Nursing Science with a duration of at least 173 one year, accredited with the SANC. Certificates of Registration with the SANC (General Nursing and Midwifery) Current registration with the SANC (2026) Experience Grade 1: a minimum of 4 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Experience Grade 2: a minimum of 14 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Duties

Provision of optimal, holistic and specialised nursing and midwifery care in the Admission, Antenatal and Labour Ward. Provide antenatal care and monitor patients during labour and delivery. Identify and manage obstetric emergencies and complications within the scope of practice. Effective utilisation of human, financial and material resources. Participate in training, research, quality assurance and clinical audits. Maintain accurate patient records and promote adherence to nursing and midwifery standards. Provide support to nursing services and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and self-development. Attend meetings, workshops and training programmes as assigned by the supervisor. Assist with relief duties of the supervisor and act as a shift leader on both day and night when necessary.
