Requirements

LLB or relevant SAQA-recognised qualification. Eight years' post-qualification legal services experience and extensive primary and subordinate legislative drafting experience. Knowledge of public service, environmental, administrative and mining legislation, legal administration, research, planning and risk management. Advanced policy formulation, drafting, statutory interpretation, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality and resolve conflict. Valid driver's licence.

Duties

Draft, vet and comment on Bills, policies and subordinate legislation. Provide legal opinions, advice and research on NEMA and related legislation; support environmental and mining legislative alignment. Assist Cabinet and Parliamentary processes. Ensure legally defensible, quality outputs within statutory timelines and service standards. Support legislative and policy coordination in working groups and participate in other departments' law reform forums.
