Control Engineering Technician Grade A

Requirements

National Senior Certificate, National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant qualification. Six (6) years post qualification technical experience, Compulsory registration with ECSA as a professional engineering technician, Valid driver’s license. Proven performance in engineering management is essential. Project management, Technical design and analysis knowledge. Research and development. Computer-aided engineering applications (PLC). Knowledge of legal compliance. Technical report writing. Technical consulting, an initiative-taker who is flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment. Problem solving and analysis, Decision making, Teamwork, creativity, Finance management, Customer focus and responsiveness, Communication, Computer skills, Planning and organising, People management. A valid driver’s licence.

Duties

Manage technical services, Manage technical services and support in conjunction with Engineers, Technologists and associates in field, workshop and technical office activities. Ensure the promotion of safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements. Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings and procedures to incorporate new technology and ensure quality assurance of technical designs with specifications and authorise/make recommendations for approval by the relevant authority. Handle multiple projects and multi-disciplinary consulting and contracting teams. Manage administrative and related functions. Provide input into the budget process. Compile and submit report as required. Provide and consolidate inputs to the technical/engineering operational plan.
