Requirements

Grade 12/Senior Certificate plus recognised three-year qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Construction, Occupational Hygiene or Environmental Health. Driver's licence. Knowledge of departmental policies, OHS Act and regulations, incorporated national standards, COIDA and Unemployment Insurance Act. Planning, communication, computer, facilitation, negotiation, conflict handling, problem-solving, interviewing and analytical skills.

Duties

Independently plan and conduct OHS compliance inspections. Confirm UIF and COIDA registration. Investigate and finalise incidents and complaints, enforce legislation and appear as a State witness. Conduct proactive inspections and compile reports. Run labour legislation advocacy campaigns and assess impact. Contribute to regional inspection planning, maintenance of plans and consolidated statistical reporting.
