Requirements

Grade 12 and National Certificate in Geomatics or Survey Officer Certificate (NQF 5). At least 6 years' post-qualification experience in geomatics/geospatial information science. Knowledge of surveying, photogrammetry, cartography, GIS data capture and manipulation, aerial photo interpretation, GIS software and standards. Skills in analysis, decision making, team leadership, communication, computer literacy, planning and conflict management.

Duties

Capture and analyse geospatial data in the Integrated Topographic System. Interpret imagery, map features and land cover, and verify quality and standards compliance. Maintain databases, metadata and archive tapes. Process aerial imagery and flight-plan data. Produce and archive maps using cartographic and photogrammetric methods. Disseminate and quality-assure geospatial services, advise clients and maintain copyright. Support stock control, invoices and quotations. Acquire, validate and process ancillary data and geographic names for topographic mapping.
