Requirements

LLB or relevant qualification recognised by SAQA. At least 8 years' post-qualification legal services experience, including drafting primary and subordinate legislation. Knowledge of environmental, administrative and mining legislation, public service policies, legal administration and research. Advanced legislative drafting, policy formulation, negotiation and statutory interpretation skills. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.

Duties

Draft, vet and comment on Bills, policies and subordinate legislation. Assist with Cabinet and Parliamentary processes. Provide legal opinions, research and advice. Vet submissions, letters, exemptions, authorisations, licences and permits. Prepare Ministerial briefings and responses to media and Parliamentary queries. Provide legal support at meetings and during legislative reviews, manage the delegation register and coordinate law reform.
