Requirements

SAQA-recognised NQF Level 6 in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Compliance, Business Management, Risk Management, IT or Law. Chairperson: minimum 10 years' senior/executive experience; members: 5–10 years' senior/executive management experience. Combined expertise in auditing, governance, risk, ICT, organisational performance, performance information or law. Prior audit, risk or anti-fraud committee experience strongly preferred. Independence, integrity, objectivity, reliability, communication and leadership skills; knowledge of governance, internal controls, risk principles and the education sector.

Duties

Participate in committee meetings; review controls, governance, risk management and financial/performance reporting. Approve audit plans and review outcomes; monitor audit recommendations. Audit chairperson leads meetings, guides strategic risk discussions and engages management and auditors. Risk chairperson chairs the Risk Management Committee and serves on the Audit Committee; advises on risk frameworks, identification, mitigation and appetite; monitors mitigation plans, business continuity and fraud prevention; presents quarterly risk reports.
