Requirements
LLB/B. Proc. degree (NQF 7) recognised by SAQA; admission as an Attorney/Advocate with practising experience; 5 years at middle/senior managerial level; 3 years in civil and labour relations; driver's licence. Knowledge of IPID Act, PFMA, public service legislation, corporate and administrative law, civil procedures and legislative drafting. Criminal and civil litigation experience, especially corruption matters. Leadership, analytical, communication, negotiation and financial management skills.
Duties
Provide strategic direction, operational planning and performance monitoring. Establish and maintain legal policies, systems and controls. Review legal opinions and advice for compliance and provide recommendations on draft legislation. Manage administrative appeals, core legal services and civil, labour and arbitration litigation. Advise on litigation and defence of the department. Review and develop contracts and service level agreements and ensure regulatory compliance.
