Requirements

Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist’s Assistant (Post Basic) Institutional or Pharmacist’s Assistant (Post Basic). Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SAPC as Pharmacist’s Assistant (Post-Basic) or Pharmacist’s Assistant (Post- Basic) (Institutional). Experience: Grade 1: None after registration as with the SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post- Basic). Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post- Basic) with the SAPC. Grade 3: A minimum of 13 years’ relevant experience after registration as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) with the SAPC. Inherent requirements of the job: A valid driver’s license. Duties

Responsible for the effective control and provision of pharmaceutical products. Responsible for the accurate compounding and manipulation of medicines or scheduled substances. Responsible for the effective control and distribution of 222 pharmaceutical stock to areas within the facility for stock replacement. Responsible for data capturing, record keeping, statistics gathering, information provision and the daily running of the pharmacy department including dealing with queries on pharmacy matters. Responsible for preparation of prescriptions and assist with the dispensing of medication for individual patient use under indirect supervision of a pharmacist as per the Pharmacy Act.
