Requirements
NQF Level 8 qualification in Law recognised by SAQA. Admission as an Advocate or Attorney in the High Court of South Africa. At least 8 years' senior management experience in a similar environment. Extensive knowledge of legislative drafting and certification, legal advisory services, public and international law, public administration and public service regulatory frameworks. Strong strategic leadership, financial and project management, stakeholder engagement and ethical governance skills.
Duties
Lead drafting and certification of Bills and subordinate legislation and legal support during parliamentary processes. Provide authoritative legal opinions to government and organs of state. Scrutinise international agreements for constitutional and domestic-law compliance. Manage strategy, performance, risk, audit compliance, finances and resources of the Office. Oversee translation and editing of legislation. Advise on contracts, settlements and disputes and ensure sound governance and statutory compliance.
