Requirements

Grade 1: Experience: Not Applicable. Foreign qualified candidates require 1year relevant experience after registration as a Medical Practitioner with a recognized Foreign Health Professional Council, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: Experience: 5 years appropriate experience as a Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Foreign candidates require 6 years relevant experience after registration with a recognized Foreign Health Professional Council, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Duties

Clinical skills appropriate to the delivery of Internal Medicine services in the context of Grey’s Hospital, as a tertiary health care facility and referral centre. Perform duties as part of an extended health care team providing 24 hour per day health care services. Note: Performance of Group 3 Overtime (13 – 20 hours per week) is mandatory but may be subject to change depending on operational demands Performance of duties in Area 2, as determined by the Chief Specialist in Internal Medicine and may include rotations between hospitals in the Pietermaritzburg metropole and outreach service to hospitals in Area 2 Performance of tasks supporting clinical care, as allocated by the management team; Participation in quality improvement programmes is required.
